ESFA National Cup

Nunnery Wood go out in 4th round

Nunnery Wood U13 girls were knocked out of the ESFA Cup in the 4th round in a competitive match against Castle School (Bristol & South Gloucestershire District SFA). Nunnery went behind to an early penalty, the deficit was further added to by a great half turn and finish by the Castle striker.

Nunnery slowly got back into the game and reduced the deficit thanks to a well worked goal set up by Charlotte Smith and finished by team captain Amy Mulcock. Nunnery started to take control of the game and were denied an equalizer by the post twice in addition to a goal line clearance. Going into half time a goal down the girls were content with their efforts and were keen to push on to get an equalizer.

Nunnery started the second half well, pressing high up the pitch thanks to Grace Reynolds organizing the back four. Lucy Harvey and Hannah Baistow controlled midfield and set up a number of goal scoring opportunities, however unfortunately it was not to be Nunnery's day. Despite hitting the post an additional three times in the second half and the Castle School goalkeeper pulling off a number of inspired saves, the girls could not get that all important goal.

A great effort by the girls who now look forward to playing a number of friendly games in addition to their league campaign. Girl of the game was Lucy Harvey who was tenaciousness in central midfield.
