Worcestershire U 14 Girls Squad

Worcestershire out of ESFA National Cup
Worcestershire Under 14 Girls bowed out of the ESFA cup last evening when they were beaten 4-1 by a stronger and more physical Staffordshire team.   The hosts started the brighter team in the game played at Stafford Town FC, but after about 10 mins Worcestershire began to play a good passing game and looked the brighter team with some neat play but it was Staffordshire who a little against  the run of play took the lead when two defensive errors gave them a one goal lead, this was quickly followed by another when a further defensive mistake let them double their lead.  At this level of football errors are nearly always punished.  So the game turned around at 2-0 but Worcestershire with the wind in their backs came out fighting and with the team playing much better quickly pulled a goal back through Catherine Vose (Prince Henry's) At this point of the game, Worcestershire looked the more likely to score but it was a cruel deflection that took a shot pass the Worcestershire keeper to restore Staffordshire's two goal advantage.  With the visitors again pushing forward Staffordshire scored a fourth near the end to give them a 4-1 win and set up a repeat of last seasons semi final against Kent in the next round.
