Worcestershire U 14 Girls representative squad

County lose in Shropshire
Worcestershire U 14 girls found a Shropshire team a little too strong for them last night in Telford where they lost 4-2 in their first Midland Counties fixture of the season. Two quick fire goals midway through the first half by the hosts put the county on the back foot but a well worked goal just before half time by G Godwin (Ridgeway) put them back in the match. The second half started with Worcestershire on top and against the run of play Shropshire were awarded a dubious penalty which they duly scored. The visitors then had an opportunity themselves from the spot but the kick crashed against the cross bar so the chance was missed. Soon after Shropshire got their fourth when an unstopable shot from all of thirty metres sailed into the top corner. Worcestershire continued to fight and A Stanley (Nunnery Wood) put pressure on the keeper to make a mistake and slotted home from close range. The county continued to press but were unable to get the two goals needed to earn the point their display probably deserved.
