Worcestershire U 16 Girls Squad

County lose warm up game
Worcestershire Under 16 Girls entertained a strong Nottinghamshire team at Studley FC last evening, a friendly fixture in preparation for their forthcoming Midland Counties League campaign.  The visitors dominated the early exchanges and deservedly went ahead after 20 minutes, this goal sparked the Worcestershire team into action and they started to play some excellent football and when they were awarded a freekick from fully 30 metres out, Chloe Peplow (South Bromsgrove) struck an unstopable goal past the Notts keeper.  Worcestershire continued to pay some excellent football passing the ball around with ease and should have gone in front, however in a counter attack the visitors went ahead on the stroke of half-time.  With, team managers Gary Barrell and Jenny Russell rotating the squad after the break and chasing an equaliser it was the visitors who went further ahead with 10 minutes to go.  Worcestershire despite playing an excellent passing game were unable to break down the well organised Nottinghamshire defence so the game finished 3-1 in favour of the visitors.  The squad will open their league campaign with an away fixture against Shropshire on Wednesday 23rd October at the Shrewsbury Sports Village.
