Worcestershire U 16 Girls County Cup

South Bromsgrove win County Cup

This season's Worcestershire Schools FA U16 Girls Cup Final saw Hanley Castle High School compete against South Bromsgrove High School.

The venue was the Victoria Ground, home of Bromsgrove Sporting FC and on a firm pitch, the opening thirty minutes were extremely even, but there were very few goal-scoring opportunities, with both goalkeepers showing excellent anticipation & confident handling in their respective penalty areas.
On 31-minutes, a good through ball from midfield was put into the path of Chloe Peplow, whose low drive was despatched firmly into the net.

Chloe, who also plays for Birmingham City & England, was no doubt pleased with to get the opening goal of the game as South Bromsgrove led 1-0 at half-time.

In the second half, the big Bromsgrove pitch and the warm conditions began to take effect, as some tiredness showed in both teams, but with both sides making substitutions, the energy levels were restored.

There were very few open chances in the 2nd half, as both teams defences held firm and the midfield battles proved to be very even throughout, but with 10-minutes remaining Tia Collins found space in the opposition box to score South Bromsgrove's 2nd goal.

The game remained at 2-0 and South Bromsgrove's Captain, Hannah Formaston lifted the trophy on behalf of her school.

Both School's can be extremely proud of the way they played and their achievement in reaching a major Cup Final.

Worcestershire Schools' FA would like to thank Bromsgrove Sporting for hosting the Cup Final.
